Review: All I Know Now by Carrie Hope Fletcher

I have been reading the novel All I Know Now by Carrie Hope Fletcher recently and decided to do a review on the novel. All I Know Now is the first novel by Carrie Hope Fletcher. She puts up video blogs on youtube all about her life and about the books she's reading at the moment. This novel is centred on her growing up and what it was like for her. She tells funny stories from when she was in school and gives advice on how to deal with bullies and 'mean girls'.
Her main reason for writing this book it because she has written a blog for many years entitled 'All I Know Now' about whats going on in her life, the memories she has from growing up and they advice she want to give other people going through the same thing. Her blog became very popular and she was offered a book deal on ut where she would still write essentially her blog but just not to post it online and save it for her book and since it was a lifelong dream to write her own book she took up the offer

The issues she talks about in this novel consist of how to make friends, why not everybody has to like you and why thats okay, mending a broken heart, navigating the internet, finding yourself, your dreams, how to be happy with your self and much more.

Carrie is seen as a big sister to her viewers and from reading this book i understand why. She tells you what to do in situations but also tells you about her mistakes and how to avoid making the same ones, Like a true big sister would

Even tough some of the situations might not have happened to me and might never happen to me that didn't stop me from throughly enjoying this book from cover to cover. Its interesting to read about how another person would react in a situation and to see if i would react in the same way or not.

Its also interesting to read about growing up as a teenager in the late nineties/early two thousands and how it compares to growing up nowadays. Some of the problems of a teenage girl ten years ago are the same as now for example mean girls in school but some other problems are different as online bullying wasn't as big or wasn't even a thing back then so my only critique would be that some of the advice is a big outdated for the current fast paced life. But don't get me wrong i still immensely enjoyed this book and i would recommend it to anyone (mainly teenage girls but anybody could enjoy)

Mary Poppins

Us Transition Years went to the Musical Mary Poppins on the 16th of December. It was held in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre. The Musical was very good. We had seen Singing In The Rain when we were in second year in the Bord Gais and in my opinion Mary Poppins was a better musical. When we arrived into Dublin we had an hour to walk around and do what we want. We then waited to get our tickets and found our seats. There was a lot of drama as my friend Jade started feeling very sick but she felt better by after the intermission. The actual musical was very good. The costumes were very good and were made very well. There was one scene where the toys started to come alive which I thought was very cool but also extremely creepy so I had to look away. Although all in all it was a very good musical. We arrived home at about six. 'Twas a good day.

Work Experience

During my TY experience so far we have been doing work experience every Wednesday. My work experience for this term is in Maynooth University in the Chemistry department. Every morning I go in with my neighbor Anne as she works there. Every week I would help set up the first years experiments and if we have time I get to try out the experiment for myself.I manage to spill things everyweek. Sometimes I have to do some mundane jobs too like photo coping and cutting TLC plates. Its good to get out of the school for one day a week as I am sick of that place for the past three years, and looking at the pretty college boys is a plus.

                                  The Web Summit Dublin 2015

I and a few others from my school (including the web team) were lucky enough to be able to attend the last Web Summit that will be held in Dublin.

From now it will be on in Lisbon, Portugal. We attended the talks that were on in the evening for schools. There were thousands of students there from all over the country.
First the CEO of the web summit came on stage and welcomed us all and gave us the basic information on the Web Summit.
Then an American man came out to talk about how he used horseshoe crabs to help fight cancer and how he started his research when he was very close to our age.
After that a man came out to tell us about his charity he started called Charity Water. He started the charity when he was in his twenties and has raised so much money for third world countries so far. He encouraged everybody to donate their next birthday to Charity Water.
Then two little girls came out to talk about how they make a device to defend themselves against Bullying called BullyBug. It us a bracelet that you wear that has a button on it that you can press if you are being bullied and it will notify your teacher. They were very innovative for small people
They were the main points that were on at the Web Summit 2015!
